Local Government Service Design Network

LGSDN is a UK-wide network for service designers working in local government.

Mission

We aim to build with purpose and integrity, by putting people at the centre

What does the network offer?

By joining the network, you’ll have access to:

  • A supportive peer community
  • Regular meet-ups and learning sessions
  • Shared tools, templates, and resources
  • Opportunities to collaborate on cross-council projects
  • A space to ask questions and get feedback

What is the network for?

This network is a safe and supportive space for people working in service design in local government. It’s here to help you grow your service design practice by:

  • Connecting with others doing similar work
  • Sharing tools, ideas, and challenges
  • Learning from each other

How is the network run?

The network is run by its members. It’s open, collaborative, and flexible.

Here’s how it works:

  • A rotating group of volunteers helps coordinate things
  • A lead from each region is involved in coordinating
  • Small teams work on specific things like meetups or toolkits
  • We use shared tools like Slack and Miro to plan together

Everyone is encouraged to take part and help shape the network.

Who can join?

Anyone working in a local authority who is interested in service design can join – you don’t need to have ‘service designer’ in your job title.

To join the network:

  • Sign up to the Slack group using your .gov.uk email address.
  • Once you’re in the Slack group, you’ll get invites to future meetings and events.
